Iris de Brito
London is probably the most multicultural capital of the world and I firmly believe that Afro-Latin culture has influenced our social dance habits. Partner based dances are also attractive in a city where there's a high percentage of single people.
Salsa is by nature a hybrid dance form and it has found its way into the heart of the UK Club scene, dance schools. and TV! Salsa has many influences, from the original Cuban form, mixed with Rumba and Cha-Cha, these rhythms ring true to many of us living in a multicultural society.
Other Afro-Latin rhythms like Kizomba, Funana and Semba are being rediscovered by students, musicians and artists looking for the next sound, the next inspiration.
We focus on structured teaching and are continuoslly looking for ways to improve our teaching methods and register student progress. Due to the social nature of our classes they are held in clubs as well as in the Studio.
We firmly believe though, that, Studio classes are the best environment to learn a dance form properly with the correct care in posture, technique and Style.
We now also offer Teacher courses for Kizomba.
If you're interested in becoming a Kizomba teacher, teaching the Studio Afro-Latino method, please get in touch for a tailor made program, costs and the next available dates.
All teachers are qualified through the UKA, if you're already hold a UKA or other teaching qualification, please mention it on your message.

Brief history of Studio Afro-Latino:
" I have been teaching over 15 years.Throughout this time I learnt that there were no structured courses available in any schools or dance studios that incorporated these forms, where you are able to check progress and move onto the next level. People were frustrated and could only learn in a club environment.
Although the nature of a lot of these dances are social, there is a form, methodology and historical context where they can be placed.
Two years ago I decided to start with short courses and build up to increase the different dances available and train a team of teachers which will help me to deliver my objectives. I hope you enjoy the classes and join our courses soon!"
SEE YOU IN CLASS!
